What Is Pergamano?

Pergamano® is one of the most popular crafts in the world. Pergamano® is a trade mark of Pergamano International. The word Pergamano comes from the Spanish word for parchment (Perga) and the Spanish word for hands (mano).

The art of Parchment Craft was in use as early as the 15th century when it was used by Catholic nuns to create cards and devotional pictures. The craft then spread to the Catholic schools of Columbia.

In 1987 Martha Ospina (who came from Columbia) and Tiemen Venema introduced Parchment Craft in The Netherlands. Because the materials needed for the craft were not available, they set about developing and producing the Parchment craft tools themselves. Since then Pergamano International has developed several ranges of books, patterns and precision tools.

Pergamano tools and materials can be used on parchment paper to create greetings cards, lamp shades, bookmarks, mural decorations, flowers, boxes and many more fascinating objects.

Pergamano products such as perforating tools, embossing tools and scissors can be used to make decorative borders on your projects. In its natural state Parchment paper has a light grey colour and is transparent. Due to its strength it can be modelled in many different ways without being damaged.
